When you have regular locks and regular keys, you really don't have much security. Regular locks found on most homes and businesses can be easily picked, or drilled open very quickly. Most residential locks can be opened in a few seconds with a pair of vice grips because they are made of soft metals. Sorry for the shocking news, but it's true. We find that many people look for the cheapest lock they can buy - and there are lots of them to choose from. But they are really only keeping the honest guy out. A seasoned burglar won't be stopped by cheap locks.

	Regular keys can be copied anywhere by anyone. Even having "DO NOT DUPLICATE" stamped on the key means nothing when it comes to having copies made. How does that hardware store clerk know whether you are authorized or not? A thief only needs your key for a few seconds, make an impression, or read the code that is right on your original keys, and he can get himself a copy the same day.
	High-security locks like those made by Medeco are made to keep even the seasoned professional burglars out. They are made to be virtually pick-proof, highly drill resistant (we've tried and given up after ruining several very expensive drill bits). The keys are cut using special blanks that are not available to anyone except specified locksmiths, and special machines are required to cut them.
