H & B Security Services Limited and its operating division, H & B Security Centre, as well as its affiliates and our employees are committed to respecting the confidentiality of our customers’ information. “Information” as used herein refers to any information about an identifiable individual and may include information such as name, address, telephone numbers, fax numbers, e-mail addresses and credit card or bank account numbers for billing purposes. Generally we do not collect information pertaining to age, gender, ethic origin, religious affiliation, identification numbers, financial information and health information including medical records.

We will only ask for and retain information necessary for the performance of our duties to our customers.

In order to provide alarm monitoring services, certain confidential information must be shared with some third party service providers such as monitoring station, police and other emergency response organizations. Any references made herein to third parties excludes those third party service providers deemed necessary for providing the services we offer.

All customer information is regarded as confidential and is appropriately safeguarded.

We have appointed a management person to serve as the privacy act compliance officer.

We frequently receive requests for information about services we are providing for our customers. We regard all dealings between our customers and ourselves as confidential information. We can only provide information to third parties, such as your insurer, when we receive your written or verbal authorization. When receiving verbal authorization, we will take reasonable steps to satisfy ourselves that the person giving authorization is who they say they are.

At no time, except under court order, will we supply customer information of any kind to any third party, except as noted above, without your express consent. We will not sell, give, loan or otherwise distribute customer information to other third parties.

We will only provide credit information when it is requested in writing and such request includes your authorization.

Our privacy policy governs the behavior of our employees and we require our suppliers and service providers to adhere to our privacy policy when dealing with our company and customers.

We limit employee access to customer information on a need to know basis in a manner that allows us to perform our duties to our customers. Employees must follow strict policies and our code of conduct when dealing with customer information. Failure to do so will result in disciplinary action.

The Privacy Act states that you have the right to access your personal information and request changes to incorrect information. There is no charge to view your information. We will make requested changes to your information, however reasonable costs may be assessed to you for any direct costs such as photocopying or postage where applicable.

We will keep your personal information only for as long as it is necessary. When we destroy personal information we will use safeguards to prevent unauthorized access during the destruction process.

If there should be any changes to our privacy policy we will post those changes on our web site at www.hbsecurity.com so that you may be aware of the current policy. Regardless of later updates we will not use the information you provide to us under this current policy in a new way without first providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prevent that use.
